The Enugu Diocesan Deaconate ordination held at the St. Mary Pro Cathedral Parish, Udi on Saturday 2nd June 2018 was not only a huge success, but it showed the tremendous growth the Church has been recording in recent times.

In his homily during the ordination Mass, Bishop Onaga enjoined the newly ordained deacons to dedicate themselves fully to the service of the gospel for which they were being admitted into the clerical state. He reminded them that the vocation that have found themselves demands a lot of sacrifice on their part and they should be ready to brace up for the challenges, cooperating with God’s grace.

Highlight of the occasion among other things, was the formal presentation of the auxiliary bishop elect, Msgr. Ernest Obodo, to the teeming number of the faithful that gathered for the occasion. The bishop had seized that opportunity to make that presentation the bishop elect since the diaconate ordination happened to be the first major diocesan function since the appointment.
